US Energy Policy is ENRON on Steroids

I have to thank Lester Brown (Plan B, 3.0) for pointing out the analogy between the US Energy Policy and ENRON. In both cases, the true costs of what we do are "off the books". In the case of ENRON, a few got very rich and then went to jail while the rest lost homes and their life savings. In the case of our energy policy we are continuing the process that will threaten life on earth, or at least life as we know it.

Only if pushed and threatened with self-extinction (or bribed with "royalty relief" and profits), will corporate America change.

We are seeing the results of Dick Cheney's secret energy "task force" meetings in early 2001, when he sold out US energy policy to industry. It's "Mission Accomplished" for Dick and his pals in energy, big biz, industry. And the rest of us are paying the price, like the Enrons scam as stated by the speaker.

Until Americans start pushing back, and demanding that their govt. start representing the people, by the people, for the people, things won't change. The govt. has run away and thinks of itself as the "benevolent dictator" taking care of those who cannot take care of themselves - they don't trust people, one bit.

That is right. I am a Green because the current Republican Congress does not acknowledge that ecology is even a word and the current Democratic Congress mouths the words but does nothing.
